A shophouse in Mueang, released before the weekend
A married couple had paid 40,000 baht to hold a shophouse near the market. The seller wanted the rest of a ten-percent deposit by Sunday and had described the booking fee as 'already part of it.' They came to Rueso on a Thursday evening with the receipt and a photograph of the shophouse on a phone.
The tally separated three piles: the 40,000 already gone, the remainder of the deposit if the seller’s sentence was honoured, and a transfer bundle they had not written down at all. Their savings covered the remainder of the deposit and almost none of the transfer bundle. The monthly amount implied by the price also sat on top of a motorcycle loan they had called 'small.'
They released the unit on Friday and lost nothing further. The booking fee came back because the receipt, read slowly, allowed a return if they withdrew before Friday noon. They have not bought another shophouse yet. They asked, the following month, for the longer readiness review, which is a separate fee and a separate set of papers.
